BOOK DROP:More troubling news for Barnes & Noble: the bookseller reported a 27% drop in sales of digital content during the all-important holiday period, WSJ reports. The declines further highlight the stiff challenge Barnes & Noble and its newly minted CEO Michael Huseby face in reviving the Nook business, which has been overshadowed by Amazon and Apple. At the retail group, sales dropped 5.5% at stores open at least a year and by store closings. BOX OFFICE:Afghanistan war drama Lone Survivor is expected to pull in between $15 million and $19 million in its opening weekend, easily besting The Legend of Hercules, which is expected to draw just $6 million to $8 million in its opening weekend, Hollywood Reporter notes.
